I was asked recently to prepare a flyer for a friend. I agreed to work on it. There was one minor problem
.it had to be completed that day. Although this person knew ahead of time that they had a deadline, they waited until the last moment to get it done.
A job rushed never turns out well. Thought and preparation is important to accomplish the desired results.
We started with photo shoots (keep in mind that I am not a photographer.) For that matter, all I had to use was an inexpensive digital camera. After several shots and an hour later, we decided to use a photo we had available in the computer files. Hmmm, wonder
where that idea came from?
Next came the wording for the flyer, and the positioning of the photo. We then decided that the picture would need resizing. Back to the drawing board, we went. Resizing, rewording, and repositioning, we finally finished the project. (Several hours later.)
We felt, exhausted, frustrated, and dissatisfied with the results. After taking a little time to relax, we went back, once more to the take a look. We confirmed some things we already knew from the onset of the project.
- Pray before you start. Ask for guidance
- Start early making preparations and prepare mentally
- Allow plenty of time for changes
- Focus on your expectations of the project
- Be flexible
- Set realistic goals
- Break the task in to ten minute intervals
- Keep positive thoughts.
- Stay focused on one thing at a time
- Dont over kill the project, stop when youre finished.
Praise God for his gentle reminders and patience as we muddle through out daily lives trying to do things on our own.
I have been guilty of putting things off until tomorrow, yet I have learned, "to walk in, and yield to the Spirit," prevents frustration; and seeking Gods counsel will yield better time management. After all, he created the earth and everything in it in six days!
